Problem
It happended to me a few times that all of the Centreon graphs would not update anymore. And in /usr/local/centreon/log/centstorage.log I get a lot of these error messages:
2012-07-07 11:52:30 - ERROR while updating /var/lib/centreon/metrics/91.rrd at 1341654743 -> 0.00 : /var/lib/centreon/metrics/91.rrd: illegal attempt to update using time 1341654743 when last update time is 1341675817 (minimum one second step)
Probable cause
A time change on the server caused by NTP. Because the servertime was running ahead the timestamps (the last update time) in the RRD files are in the future. The RRD file won’t update when this happens.
Solution
Set the right time on the server if you have not done this yet. You can calculate the time it will take before the RRD files will start to update again: 1341675817 seconds – 1341654743 seconds = 21047 / 60 to calculate minutes / 60 to calculate hours = 5.8 hours. If you will check again in an hour or so you will see that the 5.8 will change to around 4.8.
If you need a graph before the 5.8 hours are over you can recreate them from the centreon webpage: Centreon > Administration > Options > Centstorage > Manage > select the graph > Rebuild RRD database. The graph will be created uptill the current time but won’t update. Updating continues again after the 5.8 hours.
After the 5.8 hours are over recreate all graphs. You won’t miss any information.
