Java installation:
$ sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-font

Proxy settings for a shell session:
$ export http_proxy=http://proxy.server.com:8080

Edit the menu's in the taskbar:
# sudo alacarte
